[ He flinches, his wrist quickly going still in midair. ]
The human body is... able to adapt itself to a lot of things. I don't think it should have to in this case. He's better with two.
[ He smiles weakly, his expression just as soft as it is pleading. ]
I don't believe in breaking up a pair if it isn't necessary. [ His choice of words is careful, sure to carry the meanings he wishes to present though he cannot be sure if Henry catches it all. Otonashi wants their happiness as a couple.
But he wants them to be stronger together, not maimed, not permanently damaging something under the misguided belief that at least it's not bad enough, or at least it's better than murder. ]
[ He can feel the shift in tone hitting him like lead, provoking his own icy dread. ]
You wanted me to attach it - or try. I'm not telling you to get defensive, I'm asking you to be careful with yourselves in the future. [ He takes a breath, his hold on the eye still firm but careful. ] I don't like seeing you hurt, but I can't change the past. Take care of each other, preserve your lives, that's all I'm asking.
[He's clearly not listening, tone and expression not budging an inch. His thumb digs hard into the middle of Otonashi's wrist; a not very subtle threat, even if the tilt to his head is friendly.]
Actually, I think I can handle this myself, it was pretty silly of me to drag you all the way out here.
[At this point, Henry doesn't reply at all, just hums thoughtfully, hold on Otonashi loosening, enough that his thumb can trace a small, simple pattern on his skin.
A flash of pain should go through Otonashi's wrist, up through his fingers, jolting them open. Henry catches the eye with his other hand, then releases Otonashi entirely.
Holding it up, he smiles back at him again.]
There we go~! Thanks for everything, but you should probably leave.
[ His free hand quickly grips the affected wrist, reflexively trying to soothe the pain. When he looks away from it to face the mage, he looks nothing short of betrayed.
Seconds pass him by, and hurt flares to frustration, fueling anger. ]
What the hell was that?! Why? I'm on your side, I wouldn't have showed up if I wasn't! [ Looking between Henry and the stolen eye, Otonashi's breathing spikes; he becomes intimately aware of the lack of a racing heart. ]
[Pulling the eyelid out of the way, Henry spends a moment occupied with popping the eye back into place, then pulling the lid back down. He'd secure it somehow with a curse or three later, keep it fresh in the same way; it wasn't as good as getting it surgically attached, but it wouldn't be left to the whims of someone who thought they could decide who should stay or not stay together.
Henry could easily imagine Otonashi destroying it, if he thought it was 'necessary.'
He's not the sort to yell back in response, or yell at all, or react with anything but the same placid, passionless grin, his laughter much the same. The more emotion Otonashi showed, the less Henry possessed, shutting down what he'd learned to feel.]
Mm, I guess 'cause I don't need it after all?
[And if Otonashi wasn't going to leave, Henry doesn't mind doing it instead. Sure, this was his place, but it was covered in blood that he wasn't sure he felt like cleaning anyway. And this was a situation he couldn't kill anyone in; the only other option was 'avoid.'
So he stands, careful not to tilt his head too far forward, turning halfway towards the door.]
Whelp, I've got some other things to do, so I'll just be on my way!

As far as meanings went, the only implication that Henry heard was 'I'll get between you if I think I should.'
Holding his other hand out, there's a small laugh in his tone, single eye fixed unblinking on Otonashi's face.]
--I think you should give me that back, okay?

[ It isn't quite fear that flashes in his eyes, but hurt, concern mixed with his quickly justified dread.
He doesn't like it, but he holds firm, lips pressed in a hard line. ]
I'm sorry, but that's bullshit. What's actually going on? You knew when you asked that I was going to worry about you.
