You're right, it wasn't. At the very least you should've checked in on him before the infection spread.

[ He isn't saying anything about how he's doing. Seeing what he can do on himself is a choice he's willing to make with his own body, but not an ally's. Maybe if they focus on that, he can take his punishment and be better next time.

Don't belittle yourself, Otonashi. You're going to make mistakes, you're going to be in over your head. I expect that. But I also expect you to learn from it, and to prevent it from happening again.

Kid, it's fine. As a doctor, you're almost never going to work under perfect conditions, you just have to make the best with what you got. I'm glad that you did something, even if it ultimately wasn't enough.
